Mana is a quartet that engages the writings of French sociologist Émile Durkheim in a musical context influenced by contemporary improvised music, Baroque music, and the Second Viennese School. The project seeks to create a new affective space for encountering and thinking through Durkheim’s ideas about religion and social life and their ongoing relevance today.
